Synopsis:
The importance of mental health and the negative impact of stress are often overlooked in the field of engineering. Discipline does not make a sick engineer well. In fact, in some cases, discipline may be a cry for help or sign of other mental health problems that need addressing. This course will share insights about the importance of ethical rules and ethical practice, as well as how to foster communication that creates a healthy workplace, and how promoting mental health and wellbeing serves not only the professional, but the public health, safety, and welfare (HSW).
Learner Outcomes:
- Learn how mental health & wellness relate to ethical practice & how stress impacts ethical decision-making
- Review the foundation principles of ethical codes
- Learn how ethical rules and ethical practice protect the public HSW
- Learn how to empower your practice – doing the right thing; using licensing boards’ complaint process as a method for protecting the practice and the HSW
