The Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library set out to achieve a number of firsts, including an aggressive set of sustainability and conservation goals in an extremely rural location to fulfil the legacy of Theodore Roosevelt. This course will explore how these goals are globally applied throughout the project, and specifically applied to the design, detailing, and execution of a highly complex building envelope. We will discuss the importance of maintaining the simplicity of the design intent while addressing the challenges associated with a high-performance envelope and complicated construction process.

Learning Objectives

1. Identify how sustainability objectives were used to elevate the design and construction outcomes for the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library.
2. Explore how these sustainability objectives influenced the design, detailing, and construction of the building envelope.
3. Discuss the importance of coordination between all design and construction disciplines throughout the building envelope.
