jnibs_0414Interested in becoming a Contributing Author for the Journal of the National Institute of Building Sciences (JNIBS)? Here’s how…

To be considered as a potential Contributing Author to JNIBS, please follow this two-step process:

First, submit an Abstract summarizing the content and intent of the article for consideration. The Abstract should be concise and include the title of the article and your contact information (use the form below). Since images, schematics, graphs, charts, etc., are an important way of telling any story, please note whether you would provide accompanying illustrations (or information that can be conveyed as graphs or charts).

After the deadline for receipt of the Abstracts has passed, a jury of experts will select those ideas most appropriate to an upcoming JNIBS edition. At that time, and if you have been selected to write an article, JNIBS Project Manager Linda Monroe will notify you with the following specifics: deadlines (typically, one month), word counts and directions on how to upload electronic image files, etc. to an ftp site. As a Contributing Author, you will be required to get permission from the original source to publish any outside photographs or artwork you submit. The Institute reserves the right to edit or reject any manuscript at the discretion of the editorial team.

Publication Information for Actual Articles (if selected for publication)

In your article, the Institute requests that you adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Use generic product names, wherever possible.
  • Do not favor any commercial product.
  • Emphasize business process and technology application over product roll-out. Of particular interest are articles that focus on:
  • Expanding thought, critical need or new capability

  • Include drawings, tables, charts, illustrations or photographs of print quality (300 dpi) in a jpeg, tiff, eps or PowerPoint format. PLEASE NOTE: Graphic elements are extremely important in an article’s presentation. In addition to any artwork you are able to secure, the JNIBS graphic design team may be able to create tables and charts from information not presently available in graphical form.
  • Include permission to use artwork from original source.
  • Contain references/resources for further reading, where necessary.
  • Be a first release, exclusive to the Journal of the National Institute of Building Sciences.
